Terms of Service
These terms cover how you may use AcceptanceAtlas. The short version: we give you data-driven planning estimates to navigate college admissions, but our odds and figures are directional guidance, not a guarantee of admission.
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using AcceptanceAtlas (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a minor (for example, as a parent or guardian), you accept these Terms on their behalf and are responsible for their use.
2. What AcceptanceAtlas is
AcceptanceAtlas is a planning tool for college applicants. It estimates your admit odds, likely scholarship and merit-aid ranges, and recommended next steps by combining public admissions data with the information you provide about yourself.
Factual figures we surface, such as published admit rates, SAT/ACT ranges, and cost of attendance, are drawn from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard. Our admit odds and merit-aid figures are estimates we calculate, always presented as ranges and labeled as such. They are directional guidance, not a prediction or a promise.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are a minor (under the age of majority where you live), you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Users under 13 require verifiable parental consent before using the Service. By using AcceptanceAtlas you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your password. Notify us promptly at support@acceptanceatlas.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service by automated means;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or underlying models of the Service;
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or its outputs;
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to infringe the rights of others;
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or another user's data.
6. Your content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of the content you provide, including your essays, grades, test scores, activities, and other application data ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you, for example to compute your estimated odds and recommendations.
We do not sell Your Content and we do not use Your Content to train machine-learning models. The Service software, design, and the AcceptanceAtlas name and logo remain our property.
7. Estimates and no guarantee
Admit odds and merit-aid figures shown in the Service are directional estimates calculated from data and the information you provide. They are not promises, predictions, or guarantees of any outcome. College admissions are holistic and depend on many factors outside our knowledge and control, including factors no model can see.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any admissions decision, financial-aid outcome, scholarship result, or other decision you make in reliance on the Service. Always verify figures against each school's official sources before relying on them.
8. Not professional advice
The Service is informational only. It is not legal advice, not financial or financial-aid advice, and not a substitute for an accredited school counselor, college advisor, or licensed professional. For decisions with legal or financial consequences, consult a qualified professional.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any estimate will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AcceptanceAtlas and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or, where no amount was paid, the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, will survive.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in New Jersey will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
