Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information AcceptanceAtlas collects, how we use it, and the choices you have over your own data.

Last updated: June 18, 2026
The short version. We collect only what we need to run AcceptanceAtlas. We never sell or rent your personal data, and we never train AI models on your essays or other personal content. The rest of this page spells out the details.

AcceptanceAtlas ("AcceptanceAtlas," "we," "us," or "our") provides software that helps students organize their college applications and understand their admissions odds, which are directional guidance, not a guarantee of admission. This policy applies to our website, the app, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. Your email address, and a securely hashed password if you create one. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive the email address and name associated with your Google account so we can create and authenticate your account.
  • Profile data you enter. The information you choose to provide about yourself, such as your GPA, test scores, course rigor, activities, your school list, and any essays you draft or store in the Service.
  • Technical data. Basic information about how you access the Service, including device type, browser, IP-derived approximate location, and usage activity needed to operate and secure the Service.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Small files and identifiers used for login and measurement, described in the next section.

2. Cookies and analytics

We use a first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. This cookie is required for the Service to work and is set only after you log in.

To measure the performance of our advertising, the site uses the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. The Pixel helps us understand which ads lead people to the Service. It loads only when it has been configured; if it is not configured, no Pixel is loaded. You can opt out of this kind of measurement through your browser settings (for example, by blocking third-party cookies) and through your Meta ad preferences.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the Service, including storing your profile and saving your work between sessions.
  • Compute your odds and estimates, which are presented as ranges, labeled estimates, and offered as directional guidance, not a guarantee of admission.
  • Communicate with you about your account, important changes, and support requests.
  • Maintain security, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

4. What we never do

  • We never sell or rent your personal data.
  • We never train AI models on your essays or other personal content.
  • We never share your data so other companies can advertise to you, beyond the ad-measurement Pixel described above.

5. How we share information

We share information only in the limited circumstances below:

  • Service providers. We use trusted vendors that process data on our behalf and are bound to protect it: hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), authentication (Google Sign-In), and ad measurement (Meta).
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
  • Business transfer. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will continue to protect it under terms consistent with this policy.

6. Data retention and your choices

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can export or delete your data from within the app at any time. Deleting your account removes the personal data we store for you, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.

7. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls that limit who can view your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so while we work hard to safeguard your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. Users under 13 require verifiable parental consent before using the Service, and the app records that consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information without the required consent, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information. Residents of California (under the CCPA/CPRA) and the EU and UK (under the GDPR) have additional rights regarding their personal data. We honor verified requests to exercise these rights; contact us using the details below to make a request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
